long time, no post! it's been a crazy month for me, as i had the flu and then wisdom teeth extraction surgery back to back. finally feeling better! but i've managed to keep playing along, and have kept my pledge not to purchase any new clothing, and have been making and making, but alas, i still have a plethora of projects that have yet to come to fruition. always working on a million things at once! soon, soon, soon.
but here are a few things to satisfy and make up for the long delay:
i started out with a thrifted red boxy wool and nylon sweater from the 1960s that was new with tags. since my curves disagree with boxy silhouettes, i tapered the sides of the sweater using the sewing machine, and serged away the excess. the sleeves were full length and sort of non-descript, so i hacked them off and added some rows of chartreuse green, emerald green, and golden yellow-orange wool with a irregular basting type stitches. last but not least, i switched out the original buttons (which were white and super plain) with some orange and emerald green plastic buttons from the 1940s.
other refashions have been been simple, hemming and the like. it's amazing what a simple change in hemline will do for a skirt or sleeve...
