Hi! I found this piece of denim while I was tidying up yesterday...I'm sure I've had it in my stash for years, probably over 10! but because it's such heavy weight denim I never could figure out what to make with it:
Well today I finally used it up...along with some thrifted retro flower print trim I had:

So now I have a big denim overnight bag :) I love the trim soo much..I used it to finish the raw edge inside too:

Hi! Today I somehow got all motivated to "refashion" my sewing room...1st I moved out an old dresser & a set of plastic storage draws and swapped them with an old bookcase I had in the garage...I would love to give the bookcase a face lift and have some matching boxes on the shelves for all my stuff but it's way better than before so it'll do for now =) I also cleaned all the mess..patterns, buttons, threads, unused sewing machine...off my overlocker table so now it's all nice&neat well at least until the next bomb goes off!

 


I've also been working on a bunch of stuff for myself, my boys and even making some christmas gifts too.

For me...a little bow&button hair clip..from the strippy shirt:

And skull pillow for my bed (although i have a feeling my lil man will claim this!) The skull was from a thrifted $1 tee and the black fabric was from my stash:

For my boys...stuffed toy candycanes made from fabric and trim from my stash and stuffed using an old pillow:

For gifts:

Blue cord from my stash and bright picture from a thrifted tee made a cool shopping bag

Random fabric from my stash made into a nifty market bag

 

Hmmm...what to do with old cargo's...

Hi! I picked out a pair of my old baggy camo cargos to refashion today. I actually attempted to wear these the other day but seeing as I could take them on&off without even undoing the zipper or button I decided they'd better stay off! So they started out like this:

So 1st I cut them off and made a pair of shorts...I'll see if i can find a friend to pass these on to =)

Then I decided to use the rest of the pant legs to make a bag...something I've been wanting to try out for awhile now:

 

I used thrifted retro sheets I had in my stash for the lining on the straps and inside the bag...the same sheet set that I used to make my favourite pj pants aka sheet pants out of! I absolutely love how it turned out =)

Anyone can make a Messenger Bag

I couldn't throw out or give away a pair of pin-striped flared jeans when they got too big.  So I made them into a messenger bag lined with scrap fabrics.

 Here's one I made for my daughter out of more scrap fabric.

How would you refashion it? (jeans)

This is a follow on from the 'How would you refashion it? (purple skirt)' post from last week which has been updated to include a list of comments and ideas for refashioning skirts into new and exciting clothes items.

• "My first-ever refashion was a throw blanket made from all of my old pairs of jeans. I used the different washes to make a "round the world" pattern, then used other bits of leftover fabric around the edges. On top of those non-denim sections, I sewed on the back pockets from the jeans I had cut up. UFO Carpet Bag

I started this carpet bag 4 years ago, but, like many of my projects, put it aside when I came to a step I wanted to do differently from the instructions. As part of my pledge I promised I would finish as many of my half sewn projects as possible. Glad I did.  

World's Easiet Recycled Jean Bag

I made this little bag from the leg of a worn-out pair of jeans. Super fast and easy. How-to here. 

Big Honkin' Yoga Bag

No refashions this week, but I did make a bag to pack all of my yoga stuff:

It holds:

my mat

two towels

water bottle

coconut water

a change of clothes

hair product, moisturizer and a comb
