I took an old pair of light cotton twill pants (below) that my mother didn't want any more and were a bit too big for me, and made this little boxy jacket, inspired originally by those Desigual dresses which used old jeans upside down for thier bodices...
I have a short tutorial on how I did this on my blog here
I took an old polo work shirt of my husband's and along with a new bodice made from leftovers made it into a simple little summer dress for very hot days... The polo button-up closure at the front has been kept as the dress's closure and as a feature. I used the fabric from the sleeves to make inseam side pockets.
More details and photos of the construction over on my blog, along with other sewing stuff
Hi! I bought this baby doll style halter "top" a few years back...I'm not really into long tops so I would wear it as a dress over my bikini at the beach: Its so comfortable but I couldn't ever wear it out with it being sooo short! So I added a band of retro printed fabric from my stash around the hem: So simple! Why didn't I do this 2 years ago?! I think it's super cute and I'll definately be wearing it alot this summer =)
An ebay seller gave me a bag of clothes that were damaged, stained, torn and unsellable. They wouldn't be taken by thrift shops, and would have undoubtably ended up in landfill.
I got my Christmas present early this year, an overlocker. This is the first time I have put it to good use. Two items picked from the bag of disrepair; a cropped dusty pink cardi, and a stained 80's white big shoulder padded glitter top.
Using my overlocker, I cut and serged two sections of the sheer glitter fabric, and stitched onto the bottom of the cardi
And herewith a new cropped cardi for my wardrobe, saving two items of clothing from landfill, hurrah
Hi! I've worn and loved this dress for about 4 years...I actually did a few minor refashions on it when I bought it to improve the fit but alas my boobs have shrunk and it just wasn't fitting comfortably anymore: So all I did to make it ready to wear was carefully remove the bust part and add a couple darts at the back: I really like the extra length it has now as a skirt and now I think I know what I'll be wearing for christmas =)
I want to thank Nikki for the opportunity to share & be a part of wardrobe refashion...I've loved it =)
And I also want to wish everyone here a very merry christmas & happy new year! Keep up the the amazing work x Huli
