I made all of our gifts this christmas season. The guys of course are always the hardest for me to plan for. The adult men in our life are all so very different, in terms of how the dress and what they do in life. and the little ones are well to little to really have expressed interests of thier owns. So for the men both big and small they all got ties!
Since my pledge ends December 31, I wanted to finish one more refashioning project! I decided to modernize a red cowl-neck sweater and combine it with an old gray t-shirt of my husband's.
I cut off the bottom ribbing, which was too high on me and sewed on the bottom part of the gray t-shirt. I also altered the neckline and made a smaller gray collar out of the sleeves. I cut the sleeves of the red sweater to a 3/4 length and wall-ah! A modern mini dress! I think I'll look for some gray leggings or maybe wear it with skinny jeans sometime. It's really comfy!
This is my last entry for now. :( I really enjoyed the refashion experience, but don't have enough time to devote to it. I learned a lot and plan to pledge again at a later date. One of my New Years' resolutions is to make my carbon footprint smaller, which will undoubtedly include some refashioning! Thank you for the much-needed inspiraion. So I haven't done any actual refashioning in a while now, but I've been really busy working my way through my huge fabric stash (that still counts right?)

I have been so busy sewing for christmas i havn't gotten a chance to post the few things i sewed for myself. :) the first thing i sewed was a dress to wear to my son's first birthday party. ( a whole hand made event 2 weeks before christmas!!!)
I love the dress and it fits great! you can read more about it on my blog.
the second thing i sewed for myself (and the only other thing i managed this year) was a second pair of maternity pants, as my belly is getting bigger and bigger by the second i swear!!
Well that is all the sewing i did for msyelf this season. right now i'm taking a weeks break from sewing, and giving my machine a rest (i think it deserves it after over 30 hours of sewing in 2 weeks time)
But come January 1st i have a stack of stuff to sew and refashion for both myself and my new little baby.
This has been one of my carry-along projects. You know, the ones you stuff into your bag and work on only in the spare minutes when you're waiting for kids, early for a meeting, waiting at the dentist.
The green sweater was a longtime fav that DH accidentally dried in the dryer. (His only shortcoming is the inability to read clothing care labels.) Anyhow, it came out of the dryer about three inches shorter and a few inches wider. I didn't mind the wide part, just the short part, as I have carried too many babies to risk flashing my belly to the world.
The fix is a three inch piece of crocheted lace. Now I can wear it again!
Oh My Golly... Can you believe Christmas has been and gone already. What a crazy lead up. So Team MooBear will be relocating in the new year so I thought I better get in now and show you what we made for Christmas presents as I am not sure when I will get the chance to again with all the unpacking and re organising.
This little guy is a smaller version of this little guy. I made him into a tiny little brooch using a newborn baby sock and scrap material I had lying around my desk. You can see 2 more I made on my BLOG.
I made they boys their very own custom/personalised 'man cushions' using T-shirts and a stencil kit I picked up from our local treasure shop. Check out the other stencilling HERE.
These were made for my teenage cousin and sister. They have been under the Over It! label and were so much fun to make. Stencilling, and recycled fabrics plus the dress buttons Moo and I made at the Stitches and Craft Show earlier in the year in the reconstruction zone. Check out more photos HERE.
And finally we have 3 little robot dudes which were hand stencilled. They look a little awesome I think and the boys ( who are all grown men btw) absolutely loved them.
I have also started a Facebook group for my new label Over It! so if you just love facebook and could do with some inspiration call past and say hi HERE. Everything is made from recycled materials of course and 99% of the items I have made are one offs as I can't re source the materials.
