My poor daughter
has only one PJ that fits her at them moment, so of course I had to do something about this
sad situation. After some deliberating I made an Arabian inspired caftan-like
nightshirt out of two cotton burp cloths. The fabric is very soft and breezy
and the shirt is pretty long so it can not easily ride up during the night. She
can wear it without an onsie beneath it and has still a covered midriff. I traced a jumper for the rough outlines and winged the rest. It turned out really cool, if i say so myself - my husband wants such a shirt now, too!
At first I
used a burp cloth as well for the pants, but they turned out too small somehow.
I decided to do them over but was too stingy to cut up another burp cloth so I
went to my scrap bag. I actually came upon two cotton sleeves that had exactly
the right proportions! I have been racking my brains ever since where this sleeves came
from but I can not remember it for the life of me. I probably made a dummy for
some garment or another a few years ago… anyway, the sleeves are now pants and
they are so pretty that they will probably end up as day clothes!
As always,
a lot more yadda yadda and back story on my blog, as well as a German translation.
