Well, I've signed on for another two months. I am really enjoying the way my thinking has changed with regards to thrifting and repurposing. It seems I am able to look at a lot more things and see what they could be, rather than what they currently are. I love reading everyone's posts; it's all so inspiring!
Yesterday I had hours and hours of sewing time. HOORAY! I haven't had that much uninterrupted sewing time in... well... I don't know! Here's what I created:I used two embarrasingly-ratty t-shirts to create the appliques on these two basic, boring red shirts for my boys. I'm very pleased with the result.
For this one I cut out the applique from a past year's t-shirt and sewed it onto a plain onesie. I used the sleeves of a dollar store t-shirt to make the little skirt, with some inspiration from this blog. I used a little scrap of ribbon for the faux tie.
And finally, a refashion for MYSELF! I started with this pair of thrift store jeans.
I cut the legs off, removed the wide hem, and reattached i to create a new pair of capris! I am somewhat short, so finding capris or shorts that don't look RIDICULOUS on me is quite difficult. I love this solution!
I have more details about my Independence Day refashions on my blog.
And, one more true GARBAGE recycle for the road...
A juice pouch belt!

Happy Refashioning!
