My sister has four daughters, and they love playing with their baby dolls. It seems that they always come in the most hideous clothing, and it's impossible to find cute new outfits for them. I recently inherited lots of my sister's baby clothes. It seemed most appropriate to create a fabulous new wardrobe for my nieces' dolls out of the clothes they wore when they were babies!
Here is what I created out for the two most popular (at their house) sizes of dolls:
It's actually super easy to create most of these items, and I have had so much fun working on this project! If you are interested, see more photos and info on my blog.
I have also been working on other projects this week. I got started turning this women's corduroy skirt:
into a jumper for my baby girl:
I used an existing jumper as a pattern, just laying it on top of the skirt and cutting around it. The buttons were some i inherited from my grandmother, and the lining fabric was in my stash. But I can't decide: do the pockets look good at an angle like that, or would they be cuter straight? And does it need some additional detail?
Other projects this week: I started on a shirt dress (Dana's famous tutorial), bought a couple patterns on sale for $2, worked on a quilt that involves a vintage tablecloth, and helped some friends make aprons for their daughters. All in all, not a bad week!
