We are planning on taking a trip next month and my two year old son decided that he needed a backpack for the plane ride. He recently outgrew my favorite pair of overalls and I couldn't stand to get rid of them. He always loved the pockets, you just never knew what you would find in them:) I recently found a turtle neck for .50 at a resale shop with trucks, trains, planes, etc on it and decided to combine the two articles of clothing into a backpack. I didn't use a pattern, just thought long and hard before cutting:)
I used the legs and straps from the overalls and the rest was supplemented by the shirt. I dug into my mom's stash for the cording and tie lock (both left overs from projects long finished). I was pretty amazed at how well it turned out, sans pattern. Who knew that you could just whip up a backpack?:)
