Daughter has needed costumes for school the last two Fridays--she was Mozart for a wax museum event (totally cute), and today was "book character" day, and she decided to be Nellie from the American Girl doll/book series. Costumes are entirely cobbled from stuff in the house or stuff I found in thriftshops--except the wide blue ribbon on the Nellie dress, but I didn't have to cut the 2yds I bought, so I can reuse that on another project later. I had to alter the white dress a bit--it was too small as-was--but a few snips at the sleeves and an extra panel in back, and it was comfortable enough to wear all schoolday.
