So I am not really refashioning at the moment, as there are other things on my plate... Like this dress. You can read all about it on my blog. But here is a photo of progress as of yesterday. I spent some time today doing tedious things like boning... So far channels for 7 of 11 bones are in... What you see is the underlining of the top and the lining for the skirt. I promise I have more of a fashion sense than to go out in public in something like that... But there will be some fun upcycles of a somewhat classy, upscale nature coming from my corner... Mom let me go throuh the closet of businesswear she no longer wears because of weight loss and job change/ "this is just really the wrong decade" so I have some much nicer things in the works, like an eyelet skirt, a herringbone skirt, and lots of silk. The woman could wear lots of silk.

I'll be posting more when this is done, but I have some steps to get through... It is somewhat in the spirit of a refashionista... Inspired by and partially based on a dress from the mid-50s which was ripped apart, upsized for me ( I have an actual ribcage, no girdle, hips, and a fullish bustline), and then altered for a fuller skirt and a modern twist. You'd have to see the back though. And you will. If you check out older pictures/posts about the dress and some other projects. I am just not talented enough or awake enough to handle a start-to-finish discourse on drafting that pattern, not to mention the obstacles.
Happy reading/sewing! Y'all are an inspiration. I almost bought 2 scarves and a pair of gloves today, new, and I put them back, because people like you, yes you, are able to go 6 MONTHS without buying new... I had trouble making it to 6 days! I love to shop... I didn't know it would be this tough.
But it'll be worth it to get juices flowing and look at fun ways to build my wardrobe and creativity without a major drain on my bank account.
Thanks for listening, refashionistas.
