This is my first refashion -- and true-to-form, I screwed it up. But I saved it. Whew!
The recycled sweater from Goodwill:
It's one of those 100% acrylic, mock turtlenecks with the back zipper (yes, you know you have one hiding in the back of the closet, the one your grandmother gave you for Christmas fifteen years ago and you feel too guilty about getting rid of it so you hide it).
I made two pairs of warm pants for my baby boy. One pair has the turtleneck as the waistband and the zipper makes diaper changes super-quick. The other pair were made out of the sleeves -- a much more difficult process, I found, after sewing one of the seams inside-out:
My trusty seam-ripper helped me out and then I was able to finish up before the baby woke up from his nap.
