I need some advice please!
I'm weaving a bag and have finished the body but am stuck on how to finish it... This is it folded and stitched down the sides from the front view
Just one or two questions!
* What kind of strap/handles should it have?
* Should I line it with anything?
* Should I finish the edges/shape the flap?
* What kind of fixing to close it?
I'd be really grateful to hear people's opinions as I'm totally flummoxed!
Cheers,
Hen x

a clutch strap poking out of one side would be SO cute. you could line your bag with almost anything to keep it clean and keep little stuff from falling/poking through. i would line in fabric similar to the other raw materials. cotton fibers? cotton lining. makes cleaning easier.

I really like the clutch idea. i think a long purse strap would take away from it. Line it with something stiffer to help with shape. Cute bag. I wish I could crochet or knit, but that is a skill that I cannot seem to learn.

I agree with the lining and the wrist strap.
For a closure, you could install a zipper in the lining fabric only (which would hold the contents securely) and put an interesting closure on the flap as a purely decorative element.

I agree with the above, use a stiffener as well as a lining, black silk cord wrist strap. Perhaps trim with a black or silver button.

Some really great ideas there! When I get back from my trip I'll definitely try them out. Any other thoughts gratefully received :o)

I like the idea of lining it and adding just a strap. Pick a cool fabric for the lining and you could use it for the strap as a peek at what's inside. You could also make a closure with a loop of the same fabric to wrap around a button sewn to the body of the bag.

always, always, always line knit bags. Seriously, it makes them so incredible and exciting every time you open them (and it is really very easy). It really takes them from cool handmade to I would have paid a lot of money for this handmade.
