Spring Break and Sewing
First and foremost, I want to apologize for not posting in over a week, but I have been on Spring Break (free vacation from work and school). I have been sewing up a storm. You can check out all that I did on my blog christychelle.blogspot.com. I was super busy, but had a blast. All fabric used was from my stash. YEA!! One of my goals for Wardrobe Refashion was to “use up my stash”. I am on the right track!
The only real refashion this past week was some pajamas.
Apparently, I come from a line of refashioners. While digging around my stash, I found two dresses that the top part was cut off. Both of these dresses were my mom’s and she is the one who cut them. Wow, I didn’t know she had it in her. I knew that my grandmother did this all of the time. I have worn many an item or slept under one. (Nanny makes quilts out of everything.) Out of these two skirts, I was able to make me and dear daughter some warm weather pjs. (Texas nights get really hot and sticky) For my pjs, I used an old simplicity pattern (I don’t have the pattern #) for the pants (Capri length). I really like matching sets. So I cut the top of an old tank that just happens to match. Lettuce edged (sort of) and added new straps with left over fabric. The tank had a small stain, so I made some iron on patches with some over leftover fabric. New pajamas!
For dear daughter, I used another old simplicity pattern (again don’t have the number) for the pants which also were shortened to Capri length. For the top, I didn’t use a pattern. It was a total trial and error. I didn’t have enough left over from the pants, so I dug around in my stash and found some purple seersucker and some yellow gingham. Perfect matches. The front of the top is the same as the pants, the sides are the yellow gingham, and the back is the purple. My daughter loves them.

those are super cute pajamas. well done!
