I've ripped all the seams on the flamingo skirt, and now I've got all the pieces. I'm just trying to figure out where to go from here - how full a skirt I want the reincarnation to be. I really like the idea of adding length and covering up the resulting seam with a pink ribbon. But I don't know if I would like the results as much on a full skirt as on, say, a trumpet skirt. I'm leaning towards a trumpet skirt, but it'll mean doing some math and making some pattern pieces, most likely, unless I've got a pattern in my stash. I'll have to check. (I haven't purposefully bought any trumpet skirt patterns, but there might be one in there as skirt variations, or maybe in the "outfits," that I bought for the other views. Who knows.)
I've also decided on my next sewing project: refashioning this vintage, handsewn dress.
I got it off Ebay for cheap about a year ago, with a couple other vintage dresses (and only one of them was wearable as-is). I really love the border pattern. As it is, it's not really my thing, but if the bodice were slightly bigger (ie, so I could button it shut), I'd probably wear it. Since it's not big enough through the bust, I get to happily refashion it. I'm going to cut it off at the waist, where it quickly goes from slightly too tight to pretty full. At that point, I'll try it on/hold it up, and see if I like it better as a skirt (I don't tend towards white skirts, but this could change my mind), or as a floaty dress or tunic, and go from there.
