"Carolina Springtime"
OK, so it's not anywhere near Spring yet!
We've got a winter storm advisory for tomorrow but the daffodils are bravely bobbing in the wind, there are buds on the trees and I've seen birds shopping for houses so Spring is just around the block, if not the corner.
Spring is North Carolina is usually spectacular, due in great part to the dogwoods and azaleas that grace much of the region. With the drought still classified somewhere in the vicinity of "extreme", we might not get much of a Spring because the lack of rain has dealt a serious blow to the azaleas - at least in my part of the state.
Still, in tribute to the promise of Spring, I've been working on this interpretation of a vintage design that appeared in Make It With Mademoiselle (1977). Vintage pattern/New yarn.

I have that magazine in my stash too! Really look forward to seeing what you come up with. Love the colors that you've got in the picture.

I love that yarn, I used it to make my grandmother mittens for Christmas. As for spring, this is my first in Virginia, so I'm just happy to see flowers out already. It will be nice to skip the horribly long depressing march in New England.

Deb: that copy Make It w/ Mademoiselle was purchased from Alibris to replace my original copy that went missing in the mid-80s. I half suspect that the replacement copy IS actually my original! here's a tear-sheet from a craft magazine tucked inside that looks like something I used as a bookmark. Freaky.
Ryan: I bought the SWS for the colour but I love working with it! If there's any left, I might try making mittens. Did you leave the fabric as you made it or felt it for the mittens. I see Patons recommends the yarn for felting.
