Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!  We're finally winding down... just a few family members crashed in front of the tv...
This morning, instead of vacuuming and preparing for houseguests, I made this dress. :)  It's Simplicity 3681, view A.  I found this fabric in my stash.  It's a little baggy, but better too big than too small, which has been my trend lately. :)  It definitely needs a belt, but has been absolutely fab today for hiding my "Christmas cookie belly".

My family is starting to "get" me - look at the great books I got as gifts today!  My dear husband got me The Happy Hooker (crochet), Second-time Cool: the art of chopping up a sweater, Sew U (BuiltByWendy, complete with patterns!), and Alternation.  My mom gave me a how-to knit book, as well as some pinking shears, and a new set of flat-head pins (all my pins are now bent and pathetic-looking), and my brother's girlfriend gave me the Sew What! Skirts.  I've worked with Sew What! Skirts and the Happy Hooker before, but they were on loan from the library - I checked them out so many times that I thought I probably should just buy them... :)  I also got a Hancock Fabrics gift card and a whole bunch of Christmas cash, so I'm thinking either a ton of fabric...or maybe a cheap serger...

I hope everyone had a great holiday and got everything they wanted from Santa...but most importantly got to spent time with their family and friends (the best gift of all).  Merry Christmas!

Wow! Are you in X-mas-gift-heaven or what! All those gifts are great, you hopefully will enjoy them very much.
I would definately go for the serger. I just got mine and it changed my life. Specially for the knits it is just so essential for a nice good seam without puckering and stretching the knit and a classy finish in the inside. I have a $1500 sewing machine, but still use the serger for....well anything really! :-)
And besides...that fabric stash will happen anyway...trust me :-)
Have a great Christmas!

Okay, I love my gifts this year but have to admit I'm a little green after seeing your stash laid out there. Well, I'm off to the library today, I guess!
Beyond the nice books and notions, I bet the best gift of all was having people "get" you. That seems to be the most wonderful of all!

How wonderful that your gifts will keep on giving as they inspire you in your creating. I hope you post lots of pictures as looking at what people are creating really brightens my day!

I got pinking shears too!!! I had to ask dh for them but their extra special because he got them for me.

Meery Christmas to you too.

happy holidays!!!

Wishing you Peace Love and Joy

hope you too have a great holiday, best wishes for the coming year.

Sheesh, how lucky are you? Wow, I'm envious. Everyone who knows me knows that I do all that stuff, and yet they never know what to get me. Duh! Congrats on your terrific gifts!
