Looks like I missed a lot of fun while I was away in India. I am here looking for forgiveness for buying several items while in India, including clothing gifts for friends! It's hard to resist fresh woven cotton.
My two WR-worthy deeds were 1) to take some old cloth over there and get a tailor to refashion it for me and for my sister, and 2) to make decorative gift bags out of sari cloth and old wedding-favor bags which EVERYONE gives out at the copious weddings in India. I left my camera there so no pictures, unfortunately.
I am really repentant over my shopping spree and have posted the "Get out of jail free" button on my blog. In the meantime, I'll be trying to donate more items from my closet and refashion some other things for friends. Forgiven?
Hurrah hurrah, it's time again for the new pants dance!
I made these pants The Small Object style, except I used McCall's 4261 (yoga pants) as the base pattern instead of the pajama pants pattern. The fabric is thrifted sturdy cotton with a subtle woven texture.
The pants are quick and easy to make, even for me, and I'm like a turtle, if turtles could sew.
.. Chixor Girl! For coming up with a fantastic refashion and for being brave enough to show her booty on the web.
Thanks to the girls that took part, there will be 2 runners up prizes going to Fel and Janet.
Please email your address details to us so your prizes can be posted.
This afternoon I attempted another t-shirt re-fashion. The weather is warming up here and most of my t-shirst are ready to become dusters or rag rugs. So I think there will be some serious sewing going on over the next few weeks, if I can tear myself away from the garden and keep toddling Grace away from my sewing bits and pieces. Anyway this is the project I nearly completed today.
Here is a close up of the neck treatment for Edie. And because I'm posting everyday for NaPoBloMo, I decided to go into excrutiating detail about how to do this type of neckline, complete with pictures and opportunities to learn from my mistakes, here.
So what's everyone else been up to lately? I'd love to see.
Ok, hopefully just in time...here's the two things I've made so far, which are, wohoo, t-shirt refashions. As I'm one imcompetent sewer (yet!), they're not fantastic, but I made them, so I'm proud of them. :)
First was trying out the capri pant tutorial (which I did two or three weeks ago - right after I signed up, anyway).
