Hayley Lau has been altering, designing and creating clothes since
2004. Since learning about the devastating impact of clothing
manufacturing on people and the environment, she has endeavoured to
challenge the norms of the fashion industry in an effort to live more
ethically and encourage others to do the same.
In 2008 she began an eco-friendly, sweatshop-free women's clothing line called Heidi & Seek. Hayley designs and sews each garment from reclaimed materials in her home studio. She believes that reusing is much kinder to the environment than sourcing new, eco-friendly materials. Hayley also aims to counter the disposable nature of today’s fashion industry, which relies on exploited workers to bear the cost of the low prices offered to customers. She strives for fairness and eco-friendliness in every aspect of business.
Heidi & Seek does not sacrifice good design to be green. Hayley's designs are wearable, individual and nonconforming to fad trends. Each garment is one-of-a-kind and handmade with love.
We're lucky enough to have one of Hayley's fabulous dresses up for grabs!!
Size small.
To win all you have to do is leave a comment by Monday 9am (AEST) letting us know what feature you would like to see on a future Heidi and Seek creation.

Lovely. I agree that redesigned is so much more individual and cooler than retail. I've been convincing my friends of that as well.

What feature? I love details in colourful vintage prints :)

One thing that I would like to see is design that will flatter fuller figure types and maternity wear.
I am sure it has improved since I last had baby 16 years ago, but I just remember when I was pregnant I had resort to buying plus size clothing as what little I could find in maternity wear was very unflattering.

I'd like to see more colorful prints. But her work is great as it is.

Different textured fabrics

I love the bows and contrasting shoulder pieces in her shop. Perhaps more pockets? I could always use more pockets.
Beautiful work, of course. I'm hearting that shop.

Love, love, love, love... LOVE!
Brilliant colour combinations and designs - especially like the contrasting cuffs and panels.
How about some cardigans and bags/purses?
Refashioning frickin' rocks - and every piece is unique.

I'm not so hot on the bows, but maybe that's just me. A lot of the items are tee shirts. I'd like to see pieces in different materials, maybe something a little dressier.

I would love to see maternity wear or nursing wear. I love the style of Heidi & Seek, and when pregnant again, I would love to look that fashionable. The knit fabric that so many of the items are made from would be great on a big belly!

I actually really like the neutrals she's done - I would like to see more versatile neutrals and less color blocking. I feel like that's always one of the challenges I see manifest when people work from salvaged materials and while I'd love to support them, it's not my personality to wear so much color blocked stuff, or stuff that you can obviously tell can from many different parts. I *do* really like when it's all the same color scheme at least, since it stands out less that it's assembled from a bunch of different pieces.

I think more colour! I love wearing colour to brighten up an otherwise boring day.

I agree, pockets are always helpful and it'd be nice to see more sellers making plus-sized garments. I personally like classic silhouettes, colors or designs with interesting detailing or a bit of a twist - something that will last for seasons but has personality as well.

I like the idea of tips on how work with more neutrals, but I'm also really interested in how to work with/care for garments that are made from so many different fibers... dry cleaning isn't very green....

beautiful!
I'd like to see more office appropriate clothing.

I'd have to ditto the request for office-appropriate wear or something not-so-casual. I love love love casual stuff, but I'd like to look more awesome in the workplace.

I would love items for the larger size, even 12 and up, I am not big, but not so small either. Also, I love empire type tops!
