FINALLY i've started sewing up the first quilt i ever started. I'm ashamed to say that i started this in early 2007, that's almost 4 years ago! I posted about it again in December 2007 and again in April 2008 and i think that's when i put it all in a box and there it stayed until a few days ago.
I spent a bit of time the other night working out some measurements, what size to make the sashing, how big would the finished quilt be etc. I decided on 4inch strips then discovered that i'm short of the green Kaffe Fassett shot cotton for one row and the border, bugger! I'm hoping that Amitie will still stock it, i know, 3 and a half years later i'm probably kidding myself but a swatch i will send and my fingers i will cross. I also need some extra fabric for the squares inbetween each strip of sashing, black & white? Green?
I did come to realise that this is going to one mother of a quilt! It will cover the entire (queensize) bed and hang over the sides too and because of it's mammoth size i'm thinking about sending it off to be machine quilted rather than hand quilting it. Slacker? Maybe but if i hand quilt it it may not be finished until my girls leave home! It could be a good wedding quilt no?!
