If you know Lisa then you'll know all about her love of stripes. Working side by side it was only a matter of time before i caught her bug!
We're HUGE fans of the japanese pattern books we sell in store and often make up multiple copies of a pattern we love. Lisa made this fabulous Nani Iro top using a remnant of linen and altered the pattern to fit the small length of fabric she had, as a result her top has shorter sleeves and is not quite as wide.
I picked up a great remnant of Ship Shape Ink and had enough to be able to make the sleeves and overall length of the top slightly longer. I had noticed Lisa's top finished just below the waistband of her jeans and i prefer a slightly longer length. I used some navy Lulu linen for the contrasting piece on the back and for the binding used around the front neck. I also left off the pockets the pattern suggests. I'm not such a fan of that style of pocket but i think an in-seam pocket could work nicely with this style.
I like how the binding on the neck just peeps over the edge giving it a piped look and rather than a fabric loop and button fastening i went for a tab with two tarnished silver buttons.
It's a great comfortable casual top. I see it in a softer fabric with in-seam pockets, or maybe lengthened into a dress. Oh the possibilities!
