Last night i had the pleasure of spending some time with a group of very talented women.
We met at Amitie and were lucky enough to have the store to ourselves! Of course it was all too tempting and almost everyone ended up digging their wallets out from their bags. I gave in to the fabrics below after drooling over them the last time i visited.
Once the shopping was over we got down to getting to know one another. I started off by handing out my gifts and telling everyone a little about myself and what i had made.
My original idea was to make brooches but when i went to buy the brooch backs i spotted these key chains and changed my mind. Other than the key chains and the triangular rings everything else i used is stuff that i had around my sewing room. The grey wool is a blanket i found at the thrift store and have used for numerous projects. The patterned fabrics are scraps, i keep ALL scraps! The crocheted pieces are made with yarn from my stash (i don't do much knitting nowadays so i have to use it on something!) as was the embroidery floss used to blanket stitch around the edges. And the buttons were found amongst many that i bought in a jar from the thrift store for $2. You can see all of the gifts i made over on Flickr. Everone took their turn to hand out their gifts and tell a little about themselves, go here to see all the goodness. Afterwards we chatted freely until it we decided we should head home so Jenny could close up.
Thanks to all that came, it was a pleasure to meet you all and thanks to Jenny for allowing us to use her shop. Justine and i are working on organising another meet of some sorts soon.
